When we clean and precision tune your heating system each year, we maximize the efficiency to save you money and fuel. It's an easy, cost-effective way to:
Save you up to 10% on fuel
Catch small problems before they turn into big ones
Keep your system running at peak efficiency
Extend the life of your system
On average, a Precision Tune-Up takes just under two hours and our technicians will:
Check the primary control to make sure the burner shuts off with the safety function
Replace the nozzle
Replace the oil filter cartridge, or install a completely new oil filter if there is none
Replace the strainer in the oil pump
Check and adjust the oil pump pressure
Replace any cracked porcelain insulators
Replace air filters on warm air furnaces
Check the blower belt on warm air furnaces for tension, as well as cracks and deterioration, and replace if needed.
Oil all motors, i.e.: burner, circulator, blower, etc.
Oil or grease all bearings, i.e.: circulator, blower.
Vacuum and brush boiler or furnace, as well as immediate area around unit; make certain that the smoke pipe is brushed and vacuumed completely; pull the smoke pipe down and clean the base of the chimney
Clean burner exterior and interior; including hub-fan blades, burner housing, blast tube and cad cell
Remove and clean probe-type Low-Water-Cut-Off in steam systems
Test Low-Water-Cut-Offs in steam systems
Tune burner to maximum combustion efficiency while maintaining stable fire
Test all transformers with transformer testers; replace 10,000 volt models if they put out 9,000 volts or less
Perform a complete combustion efficiency test, tuning the burner to maintain the highest possible combustion efficiency, and record results on the service tag
Cycle burner several times to ensure safe, proper ignition
Wipe off top of boiler or furnace
Leave general area neater than when we arrived
The Precision Tune-Up is completely covered, parts and labor, under both of our Service Plans.

Oil-Fired Water Heater Maintenance
Here's some good news: Most water heaters don't require any annual maintenance! We only recommend maintenance on oil-fired water heaters… the type that has its own oil burner and its own smoke-pipe into a chimney. If you're not sure what type of water heater you have, we'll be happy to take a look at no charge!

NOTE - The best oil-fired water heaters are designed with what is called “cathodic protection” – sacrificial anode rods that are submersed in the water to divert corrosion from the tank and prevent it from corroding. These anode rods should be replaced every five years or so. This maintenance usually takes no more than one hour, from start to finish. It can be scheduled at your convenience, or scheduled with your annual cleaning and precision tune-up.
Air Conditioning Maintenance
Central air conditioners, just like heating systems, need to be tuned on a regular basis to maintain high efficiency and reduce electric costs. Our technicians are trained on all brands of cooling systems. Give us a call and we can perform our 15 point A/C tune-up and inspection to ensure that the system is running safely, reliably, and at peak efficiency.
What's included in Bantam Fuel's 15 Point A/C Tune-Up and Inspection?
Open air handler and inspect evaporative coil (clean as required)
Replace standard air filters; Check and clean electronic/electrostatic air filters
Inspect blower drive belt, adjust tension, replace if necessary
Clean & check condensate drain, pump and discharge
Check & record blower motor voltage & amperage
Inspect & lubricate sheaves, pulleys and drive bearings as required
Lubricate blower motor, condenser motor, and cooling fan motor
Inspect outside condenser coil – clean as required
Inspect and test condenser relays, contactors and transformers
Inspect and service condenser fan motor
Check & record condenser fan motor voltage & amperage
Check refrigerant pressures and superheat – adjust as required
Start air handler, test air flows and temperature delta through unit
Check operating controls for proper operation
Record operating and service data
The 15 Point A/C Tune-Up and Inspection is completely covered, parts and labor, under our A/C Service Plan.

Pool Heater Maintenance
Pool heaters work in a tough environment, open to the weather 365 days a year. Their worst enemy is corrosion. A heater that would last ten years in a basement, might only last five years outdoors. But we can extend the life of your heater with preventive maintenance.
After the pool season ends, we remove the burner assembly, protect everything with a corrosion retardant, store the burners indoors, and cover the heater to protect it from rain, snow, and ice. In the spring, we'll put it all back together and test it for safe, reliable operation. We take special care to make sure mice haven't chewed the insulation off the internal wiring, replacing it if necessary.
