 Selecting the right system is critical to keeping your home comfortable and minimizing your energy costs. Obviously, the main purpose of air conditioning is comfort. But it isn’t enough to simply cool your house. If your house cools too quickly – because your AC system is too large for the space – your home can become cold and clammy. It’s much better to have a cool house that is adequately dehumidified. So choosing the right size AC unit is critical. AC systems are also rated for efficiency. The minimum Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating (SEER Rating) for new equipment is 13. For each point of SEER, you can save 10% in electricity costs over the previous point. If, for example, your current system has a SEER Rating of 10, upgrading to a new system could generate an electricity savings up to 30%.
