There are three grades of propane available in the US today:

· A propane – butane mix
· A low grade propane for commercial applications

Natural propane is colorless and odorless. For safety reasons propane is required to be odorized to indicate presence of gas in air.  This is achieved by adding ethyl mercaptan, a foul-smelling odorant.

Worried about where to place a propane tank?  A tank can be either above or below ground and can be placed far away from the appliance it serves. This allows you the option to place it in a discreet location of your choosing.
